SOA Workshops & Training
Our workshops & training programs cover the different key starting steps for project and enterprise-level SOA. Those doing project-level SOA can focus on the narrow end of your project delivery systems. They will ensure the project's service requirements drive SOA infrastructure investments. Enterprise-level SOA requires more preparation and coordination and so we train you in the more formal approaches of portfolio management, SOA platform design and planning, and SOA governance.
Workshops & Training sessions include a:
- 1 day intensive training session designed to kick start your SOA knowledge; and/or
- 3 day training session to extend your knowledge.
In our training sessions we focus on key areas for starting down the road to SOA, with an emphasis on training architects in common methods and approaches, such as:
1) establishing a SOA blueprint to ensure business and technology alignment
2) adopting design principles in support of the SOA blueprint
3) using the resources at your disposal to move quickly and reliably down your own SOA roadmap.
What we cover
Intelligent Pathways’ practical and interactive workshops cover the planning, design, implementation and management of SOA solutions. Our best practice program is intended to help managers, architects, analysts and developers understand how SOA can benefit the organisation, and how to maximize those benefits.
Workshop participants receive comprehensive templates for managing the SOA lifecycle, design and process models and schematics, case study insights and best practices, along with proven business-driven methods and governance frameworks for designing Web Services.
Workshop & Training Curriculum
| Topic | What you'll cover | Who should attend | Governance Outcomes | |||||||
Project Initiation |
Project stakeholders, architects and business architects use the tools of SOA Intelligence to interrogate the existing portfolio of composite applications and services. Planning for new composite applications is more accurate through the clear identification of service reuse versus service development or modification. |

||||
Architecture |
Architects for information, infrastructure, business and services work together to plan the introduction of new composite applications into existing SOA. Capacity planning is conducted at the service level ensuring that changing non-functional requirements at the service level do not impact the enterprise. |
√ | √ | √ | √ | ·Defining policies for information, business infrastructure and security |
||||
Analysis |
Architects, analysts and developers work closely together to discover services for reuse and to clearly define the requirements for new services. Services requiring modification are governed closely by the SOA architect to ensure that dependencies are always well understood. |

|||||
Design |
Analysts and developers work closely to clearly define the service definition for new and modified services and to update the dependencies for existing services participating in new compositions. Test planning is critical at this stage and particular attention is also applied to the design of policies for service use. |
√ | √ | ·Formal service specification |
||||||
Build |
Developers receive notice to construct granular services through the workflow tools of SOA Intelligence. The speed of development does not risk the compliance with governance as the tools mandate the application of quality measures before services can be progressed for test and release. |
√ | √ | √ | ·Service contractual standards |
|||||
Operations |
Release managers and IT staff prepare the services for releasing using SOA Intelligence tools for composition management. |
√ | √ | √ | ·Service registration |
|||||
Infrastructure |
IT Operations monitor the SOA at runtime using SOA Intelligence and Oracle tools at their disposal. |
√ | √ | ·Policy driven infrastructure |
